scope:

These procedures apply to work carried out by Railtrack or Outside Parties including:

• proposed erection of new and reconstruction or alteration of existing bridges

• proposed erection of new and reconstruction or alteration of existing other structures such as retaining walls, footbridges, and building developments over or adjacent to the tracks

• proposed erection of new and reconstruction or alteration of existing station construction such as platform walls and canopies and realignment of platform edges

• proposed erection of new and reconstruction or alteration of existing signal posts or gantries and electrification masts or gantries

• proposed new construction or renewal of permanent way

PURPOSE

The purpose of this procedure is to define Railtrack's policy for determining the structure gauge to be adopted for changes to Railtrack's controlled infrastructure to ensure the structural clearances provided are suitable for existing and envisaged rail vehicles.
