Page Count: 55
ICS Code (Pumps and motors): 23.100.10
scope:

Inclusions

This Standard is intended to be used with an industrial or commercial clean-water pumping system with the following characteristics:

a) any application of electrically driven single- and multi-stage rotodynamic pumps;

b) pumping system with a flow range between 20 m3/h to 36 000 m3/h; and

c) all liquids with viscosity up to 25 cSt, provided that ANSI/HI 9.6.7 is used to correct the performance to 1 cSt.

Exclusions

This Standard is not intended to be used with the following pumping systems:

a) application of positive displacement pumps, defined as a category of pumps where a set volume of liquid is trapped in a chamber and conveyed from the suction side of the pump to the discharge side of the pump through displacement of liquid by a solid component such as a piston, plunger, gear tooth, vane, screw, diaphragm, etc.; and

b) pumping system applications handling shear-sensitive liquids.

Terminology

In this Standard, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the Standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard.

Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material.
