3.1 It is important to monitor the anion concentrations and anion contaminants in electrocoat baths. Wet chemical methods are long, tedious, and of questionable accuracy in the ppm range. Ion chromatography offers a fast, convenient and accurate alternative. Since IC analysis of electrocoat bath samples is difficult, the permeates are often analyzed for contaminants. This guide addresses some important considerations for such analyses.View Less
1.1 This guide is used for the determination of nitrate anion in electrocoat bath permeate by use of chemically suppressed and non-suppressed ion chromatography (IC).
1.2 Other anions, with the exception of phosphate, may be determined in electrocoat bath permeates by use of this guide.
1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
