All multiple ended sets of points operated by a point machine which share a common detection circuit i.e. do not have separate local detection relays for each point end.

Includes:

 • Crossovers

 • Switch Diamonds

 • Slips

 • Trap Points / Derailers

 • Ladders

 • EP Points

 • Secondary detection (i.e. 998 Detectors)

This is not an exhaustive list.

Excludes:  

HPSS, Mechanical, Clamp lock and Train Operated points

Single ended point ends fitted with a secondary detection method (i.e. BR998and a single machine).

Purpose

The purpose of this SIN is to:

a) carry out Defined Test: Point Detection and Correspondence Test(NR/SMTH/Part 03/Test B08) on all multi-ended sets of points operated by apoint machine which shares a common detection circuit;

b)secure points where a wiring deficiency is identified;

c) carry out remedialwork where deficiencies are identified
