Applicability and Scope.

All NAVMED commands and activities will integrate planning and performance improvement initiatives with CPI/LSS methodologies and tools.

Purpose.

Per the authority in references (a) through (n), listed in enclosure (1), this instruction:

a. Establishes policy and provides guidance to institutionalize and fully implement Continuous Process Improvement (CPI)/Lean Six Sigma (LSS) throughout Navy Medicine (NAYMED) in alignment with the Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Navy (DON).

b. Recognizes CPI/LSS as an essential approach for improving organizational performance and achieving strategic and operational priorities at all levels of the enterprise.
