Purpose

The standard practices established in this document provide guidance on the processes and practices necessary or recommended for an organization to facilitate visits by foreign nationals (including short and long-term visits). This standard is not intended to outline requirements, practices, policies or procedures to assure a cleared or secure facility.

Application

This voluntary standard does not provide legal advice, nor is it intended to address specific export transactions. Users should consult their qualified resource(s) for questions about this standard and related export control compliance issues as appropriate.

These standard practices are applicable to organizations that manufacture defense articles, other export controlled items (commodities, software, and technologies) or perform defense services, or other export controlled items (commodities, software, and technologies) and activities in which providing access to foreign nationals without U.S. government authorization would be prohibited by United States export regulations.
