inactive, Most Current
Organization: NR
Publication Date: 20 April 2020
Status: inactive
Page Count: 15
scope:

The requirements apply to all RAM (Off-track) and MDU functions that manage, undertake or act upon Boundary Measure Inspections

Purpose

A failure in the Boundary Measure, resulted in a serious safety incident. An initial investigation into the cause of the failure highlighted a systemic failure in the associated inspection regime. The result of the systemic failure is that the level of risk associated with possible future boundary failures is unknown.

The purpose of this Special Inspection Notice (SIN) is to identify the end-to-end management processes associated with Boundary Measure Inspections. Specifically, the SIN must identify, to what extent, either paper only or dual [paper/electronic] processes are being used for the undertaking of Boundary Measure Inspections.

Information provided is to be used to enable improvements to the suitability and efficiency of the boundary measure inspection process.

This SIN applies to all maintenance delivery units (MDU) and all RAM (Off-Track) teams with responsibility for Off-Track.
