Purpose

During the period 2003 to 2009, the NEMA Task Force on Dimming Systems (TFDS) along with partners from the Lighting Research Center located in Troy, NY planned and executed a significant experiment to support the effort to achieve a standard for fluorescent lamp dimming systems. This work has been reported previously at LS11 (Fudan University, Shanghai, China, 2007) and at the IESNA Annual Conference (Savannah, GA, 2008). See Annex A for the full list of references. The work program was supported in part with funds from the US Department of Energy. The purpose of this document is to summarize the work of the TFDS and present the final results in a short report as a ready reference to the more detailed cited publications. These results were the basis of NEMA LL 9-2011 Dimming of T8 Fluorescent Lighting Systems.
