MIL-STD-188-125-1A CONT.DIST
High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) Protection for Ground-Based Facilities Performing Critical, Time-Urgent Missions Part 1 Fixed Facilities

scope:
This standard prescribes minimum performance requirements for low-risk protection from mission-aborting damage or upset due to HEMP threat environments defined in MIL-STD-2169. This standard does not mandate specific design solutions to meet these performance-based requirement criteria. This standard also addresses minimum testing requirements for demonstrating that prescribed performance criteria have been achieved and for verifying that the installed HEMP protection subsystem provides the operationally required hardness for the completed facility. If the prescribed testing results in any hardware damage or functional upset, the operational authority for the facility will make the determination whether the observed event is mission aborting. Further, a hardness maintenance and hardness surveillance (HM/HS) program, including periodic reverification testing, is required to sustain the system survivability over its deployed life time.
