This standard contains minimum requirements for carbon dioxide fire-extinguishing systems.
This standard includes only the necessary essentials to make it workable in the hands of those skilled in this field.
Purpose.
This standard is prepared for the use and guidance of those charged with the purchasing, designing, installing, testing, inspecting, approving, listing, operating, or maintaining of carbon dioxide fire-extinguishing systems, in order that such equipment will function as intended throughout its life.
Equivalency.
Nothing in this standard is intended to prevent the use of systems, methods, or devices of equivalent or superior quality, strength, fire resistance, effectiveness, durability, and safety over those prescribed by this standard.
Technical documentation shall be submitted to the authority having jurisdiction to demonstrate equivalency.
The system, method, or device shall be approved for the intended purpose by the authority having jurisdiction.
Only those with the proper training and experience shall design, install, inspect, and maintain this equipment.
