IEEE - N42.34
American National Standard Performance Criteria for Handheld Instruments for the Detection and Identification of Radionuclides
| Organization: | IEEE |
| Publication Date: | 20 May 2021 |
| Status: | active |
| Page Count: | 43 |
scope:
This standard specifies general, radiological, climatic, electromagnetic, and mechanical requirements, and associated test methods for handheld radionuclide identification devices (RIDs). Successful completion of the tests described in this standard should not be construed as an ability to identify all radionuclides in all environments.
Purpose
This standard addresses instruments that are used to detect and identify radionuclides. They may also be used to display gamma-ray exposure rates and indicate the presence of neutron radiation.
