This Defence Standard, in conjunction with the documents referred to herein, specifies the requirements for the design and performance of Motor Generators up to 100 kVA (kilo-Volt Ampere) and their associated Control Panels for HM Surface Ships and Submarines.
Larger special Motor Generators e.g. Submarine reversible Alternating Current (ac) to Direct Current (dc) and vice versa, or Type 23 Frigate Motor Generator (945 kVA) and similar designs, are to be covered by their respective Statement of Technical Requirements (STR).
