This Standard sets out the requirements for training in gas work for;

• new entrants to the gas industry working within the scope of the GSIUR

• those persons currently or previously registered seeking re-certification

• those persons wishing to extend their range or scope and

• those persons working at premises or on equipment outside the scope of GSIUR.

Note 2: If necessary, gas engineers seeking re-certification may attend refresher courses which include any changes in law, technology or safe working practice. Refer to Guidance Note 8 (GN8) (see Appendix 1).

The SSB is responsible for ensuring that developers/providers wishing to provide training for new entrants and gas engineers working within the scope of GSIUR and their associated training programmes meet the requirements of IGEM/IG/1.

This Standard does not specify the content of specific training programmes but provides the requirements necessary for the development of training specification/programmes.
