Operating large tenders to transport passengers from cruise vessels to shore poses special challenges for the tender operator in charge, both from a boat-handling skills point of view as well as from a social point of view, dealing with the well-being of passengers on board. The need for training in manoeuvring small craft is recognised by the industry, limiting the risks involved in this operation. This standard addresses the special competencies needed by tender operators who are responsible for preparing, launching and operating tenders with the aim to bring passengers from ship to shore and back in a comfortable and service-oriented way.
