DSF/ISO/DIS 3079

A two-electrode method using acetic acid to measure pitting potential of aluminium and aluminium alloys in chloride solutions

inactive
Organization: DS
Status: inactive
Page Count: 15
ICS Code (Corrosion of metals): 77.060
scope:

This test method specifies a method for obtaining the pitting potential of aluminium and aluminium alloys in 5mass% NaCl, with a fixed amount of acetic acid as the oxidant, using a two-electrode system. The test method provides a simple method for ranking aluminium alloys and is especially useful for evaluating galvanic protection performance of thin clad materials because it causes little specimen damage.
