This standard covers the criteria for securing and managing access to communications equipment enclosures utilized by service providers and others in outside plant (OSP), indoor, and co-location environments. These equipment structures include but are not limited to cabinet enclosures, huts, poles, pedestals, and CEVs.

In addition, this document defines security recommendations for communications sites including the environmental, physical security, access control, and risk mitigation requirements for maintaining site security and operations.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide communications service providers requirements for securing OSP, indoor, and co-location sites. These requirements are intended to improve security, safety, network resilience, and operational efficiencies.
