This document applies to all Network Rail employees and their contractors who are involved with the Disposal of Network Rail Assets. These Assets might include:

a) track and Infrastructure Materials

b) road and rail assets;

c) cable;

d) structures at stations or architectural salvage;

e) signs;

f) re-locatable buildings;

g) signal boxes and their equipment;

h) other signalling or telecoms equipment

i) artefacts or records designated (Designated Assets) and therefore protected under the Railway Heritage Act 1996

j) on-track machines

k) depot plant assets

Purpose

This document sets out the rules which Route Services apply when undertaking the Disposal of Redundant Assets. It enables Network Rail to do this efficiently and effectively to meet its safety, regulatory, financial and HM Treasury obligations.
