ELECTROMAGNETIC ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS TO ORDNANCE GUIDE PART 1 GENERAL GUIDANCE

active, Most Current
Organization: DOD
Publication Date: 5 January 2022
Status: active
Page Count: 35
scope:

Purpose.

This part of MIL-HDBK-240 includes reference materials for Parts 2 through 7 and presents an introduction to each of these specific parts. MIL-HDBK-240 Parts 1 through 7 supplement MIL-STD-464 by providing guidance for the verification of electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) to ordnance requirements and a methodology for the development of operational guidance related to hazards of electromagnetic radiation to ordnance (HERO). The focus is on E3 ordnance testing for all ordnance and associated support equipment for airborne, sea, space, and ground systems for all Service mission areas. Although intended primarily for use by Department of Defense (DoD) E3 test activities, this handbook also provides a consolidation of "corporate knowledge" about the subject that should be of interest to procurement authorities and system developers. This handbook is only for guidance and cannot be cited as a requirement.

intended Use:

This handbook may be used by any facility engaged in E3 testing of ordnance for any of the military Services.
