This TIR provides guidance on compliance with occupational safety and environmental statutes and regulations pertaining to the use of liquid chemical sterilants (LCSs) and HLDs and other disinfectant chemicals in health care. This TIR does not address cytotoxic compounds such as antineoplastic agents or other pharmaceuticals, nor does it address other health care safety issues such as ergonomics, bloodborne pathogens, or needle sticks. This document does not specifically discuss dialysis, although many of the occupational safety regulatory compliance requirements for the chemical disinfectants used in dialysis are similar to those discussed in this document.
