This standard applies to the procurement of Short Circuiting Devices (SCD) for use by TfL projects, track maintenance personnel and personnel with responsibility for providing safe access to the track as outline in the London Underground Rule Book No. 3 and covers their design, manufacture, testing and maintenance.

This standard incorporates changes to include Short Circuiting Straps (SCS) for use on the LU network. SCD refers to both the Short Circuiting Bar (SCB) and Short Circuiting Straps (SCS).

This standard incorporates changes to align the SCD maintenance period with Rolling Stock train maintenance regimes. This change will supersede concession CR8577v2.

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to define the requirements for conductor rail short circuiting devices.
