AIM

The aim of this NATO standardization recommendation (STANREC) is to list recommended practices regarding:

an alternate process to accept product based on sampling inspection. It is recommended to be used on end items, components or supplies in storage with significant quantity. The principal purpose of acceptance sampling inspection is to see that the Supplier submits their lots of a quality that is at, or better than, a mutually agreed level. The MIL-STD-1916, ISO 2859 and ISO 28594 are based on a common sampling parameters, e.g. Statistical sampling, Accept-Zero, Acceptable Quality Level (AQL). MIL-STD-1916 and ISO 28594 also describes the value of implementing process controls to compliment the sampling plans.

Acquiring organisations should encourage their suppliers to use these process control concepts and sampling procedures to demonstrate acceptable quality.

The acquiring organizations should ensure that a system is devised that clearly places responsibility for quality with the Supplier. The application of government quality assurance does not absolve the Supplier of their responsibility for quality.
