This procedure applies to all the MMTs owned and operated by Network Rail Infrastructure Maintenance (IM) and all Network Rail staff. The procedure works in collaboration with applicable standards of any Railway Undertaking (RU) contracted to operate the MMT. This module applies if the MMT will be working in a possession, protection zone or a Working in Section (WiS) shift.

It covers:

a) confirmation that train is ready to depart from the stabling point;

b) transit movements from the stabling point to the site;

c) handover between RU MMT driver and Network Rail PIC;

d) completion of work activity and preparation of train for transit movement;

e) hand-back between Network Rail PIC to RU MMT driver; and

f) close down of the train at the stabling point.

Purpose

This module standardises the handover of control of the MMT during the various stages of a shift; specifying who carries out which activities throughout the shift. It provides a standardised handover and hand-back process of the A50 control desk in the Mobile Maintenance Unit (MMU).
