General
This document specifies the minimum safety and electrical installation requirements for the supply of electricity to appliances and equipment on limited-duration film, video, photographic, audio and television sites and for the in-service testing of portable and transportable equipment used on these installations.
These requirements are intended to protect persons, livestock and property from electric shock, fire and physical injury hazards that may arise from an electrical installation that is used with reasonable care and with due regard to the intended purpose of the electrical installation.
In addition, guidance is provided so that the electrical installation will function correctly for the purpose intended.
Where this document does not specify a requirement, the relevant requirements of AS/NZS 3000 apply.
Inclusions
This document applies to limited-duration electrical installations, portable distribution systems, appliances and equipment connected to electricity supply used in connection with -
(a) dry hire studios;
(b) buildings and their environs used as limited-duration studios;
(c) interior and exterior locations; and
(d) educational institutions or sites.
This document also applies to appliances and equipment supplied through a fixed electrical distribution system by detachable connection for film, video and television work.
Exclusions
This document does not apply to -
(a) permanent installation wiring complying with AS/NZS 3000;
(b) permanent installation wiring complying with AS/NZS 3000 on theatre stages, concert locations and permanent television studios;
(c) permanent wiring in connectable electrical installations (refer to the AS/NZS 3001 series) that have the facility to connect to an external source of supply used for limited-duration film, video, audio and television sites complying with AS/NZS 3001.2 for broadcast vans; and
(d) permanent wiring in or on marinas or boats that have the facility to connect to an external source of supply used for limited-duration film, video, audio and television sites complying with the AS/NZS 3004 series.
Application
This document may be applied through legislative requirements, made in each state and territory of Australia and in New Zealand, concerned with the safety of electrical installations. This document may also be applied in conjunction with any additional requirements, exemptions or restrictions in such legislation.
Electrical installations on limited-duration film, video, audio and television sites shall comply with AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3002 except as varied herein and with the applicable additional requirements of this document.
