This Recommendation describes the concepts and the aspects of management and control (MC) components that are common to both software defined networking (SDN) [ITU-T G.7702] and automatically switched optical network (ASON) [ITU-T G.7703] to control transport networks. This encompasses common aspects of:
- transport resources and their representation;
- MC components used to describe architecture for application of SDN and ASON to the control of transport networks;
- control communication aspects;
- common management aspects of MC components;
- identifiers with respect to naming and addressing, which includes the separation of identity from location.
