scope:

This standard applies to mooring launches used for assistance in mooring and unmooring of all kind of vessels.

The standard defines the technical requirements for mooring launches and the on-board equipment in order to minimize risks arising from the regular operation of the launches in the specified wind and sea conditions as given by the assigned design category.

This standard also contains additional requirements in case the mooring launches are used for the following additional activities:

- bringing out oil booms/screens;

- transfer of a limited number of persons including transfer to and from vessels;

- transport and transfer of relatively light cargoes to and from vessels.

This standard does not apply to recreational craft according to Directive 2013/53/EC or inland waterway vessels according to Directive (EU) 2016/1629
