This 3-A Sanitary Standard covers the sanitary aspects of in-line strainers. Product inlet starts at the strainer inlet and ends at the strainer outlet and does not include external valves or piping.

Straining devices which employ mechanical action are not covered by this standard.

To conform to this 3-A Sanitary Standard, in-line strainers shall conform to the following criteria for design, materials of construction, fabrication techniques and installation, as appropriate, and the current revisions or editions of all referenced documents cited herein.
