This standard applies to unvented portable type gas refrigerators intended for use either indoors or outdoors with propane and butane gases.

For the purpose of this standard , indoors refers to a confined space intents, recreational vehicles, cottages, fishing huts, cabins and other similarly enclosed areas.

This standard applies to portable type gas refrigerators having:

(a) a regulated pressure

(b) a non-regulated pressure

This standard applies to refrigerators:

(a) directly connected to the container

(b) remotely connected to the container

This standard does not apply to refrigerators incorporating or designed to be used with a fuel supply of 200 g (7 ounces) or less.

Refrigerators which comply with the provisions will not necessarily be acceptable if when examined and tested are found to have other features which impair the results contemplated by these provisions.

Refrigerators and components employing materials or having forms of construc-tiondiffering from those detailed in these provisions may be examined and tested according to the intent of the provisions and if found t o be satisf actorily equivalent, may be given recognition.

This standard applies to refrigerators constructed entirely of new, unused parts and materials.

Refrigerators examined for compliance to this standard shall be designed to use Group 2 refrigerants in quantities not exceeding 61 bs (2.72 kg). Group 2 refrigerants include, but are not limited to, the following:

Ammonia NH3 Methyl chloride CH3C1 Dichloroethylene C2H2C12 Methyl formate CHO CH3 Ethyl chloride C2H5C1 Sulphur dioxide SO2

A refrigerators examined for compliance to this standard shall be provided with a direct, self-contained type of system employing the absorption or adsorption principle of refrigeration.

This standard also covers all electrical equipment, wiring and accessories built-in or supplied for use with a refrigerators using gas fuel. This standard does not cover refrigerators using gas fuel which have a supply voltage rating of greater than 125V. Refer to section 1.18.
