This guidance applies to anyone involved in the production of a CTC. The CTC form F1184 is required to be completed, reviewed, approved, distributed and loaded.
For levels and types of approval required (CRS, CTC, IMA) refer to S1538:
a) Section 3.7 Supplementary requirements for Assurance of New or modified rolling stock,
b) Section 3.21 New or modified rolling stock requiring LU approval.
Purpose
The purpose of the Certificate of Technical Conformance for rolling stock (CTC) is to provide assurance to London Underground (LU) that the composition or vehicle complies with LU standards (including route acceptance).
The requirement for this process is in accordance with:
a) LU Category 1 Standard S1180 Rolling Stock,
b) LU Category 2 Standard S2180 Passenger Rolling Stock
c) LU Category 1 Standard S1538 Assurance (as defined in section 3.21 of when a CTC is required).
This guidance is to ensure that CTC approvals are managed, recorded and approved in a consistent manner.
Note: Before completing a CTC, the Author should review S1538 section 3.21 to confirm what approvals are required, dependant on the type of change or operation.
Note: For an updated CRS, check that the existing CTC is still relevant/valid. If not, then a new CTC is required.
