Shear Resistance Tests for Ceiling Boards for Manufactured Homes

UL 1296

1.1 These requirements cover ceiling materials intended for use as structural building products in manufactured homes.

1.2 These requirements are intended to provide information as to the performance of mineral and fiberboard, gypsum wallboard or other ceiling materials when attached to a roof truss or rafter system using a specific fastening schedule.

1.3 These requirements do not cover thermal, acoustical, flammability characteristics, and other properties of such materials.

1.4 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those in use when the standard was developed, and that involves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determined necessary to maintain the level of safety for the user of the product as originally anticipated by the intent of this standard.
