scope:

1.1 These requirements cover butterfly valves intended for use in piping systems supplying water for fire-protection service.

1.2 The valves covered by these requirements are intended for installation and use in accordance with the Standards for:

1. a) Low, Medium and High Expansion Foam, NFPA 11;
2. b) Installation of Sprinkler Systems, NFPA 13;
3. c) Installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems, NFPA 14;
4. d) Water Spray Fixed Systems for Fire Protection, NFPA 15;
5. e) Foam-Water Sprinkler and Foam-Water Spray Systems, NFPA 16;
6. f) Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection, NFPA 20;
7. g) Water Tanks for Private Fire Protection, NFPA 22; and
8. h) Installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their Appurtenances, NFPA 24.
