This standard specifies the minimum functional and non-functional requirements to be met by Customer & Operational Information Systems installed on stations. Customer & Operational Information Systems is a total system that provides the departure and arrival information and other appropriate information relating to transport services at a location.
This standard applies to any organisation intending to undertake works on NR's managed stations or Train Operating Company (TOC) franchised stations where NR is involved in managing or undertaking the work. Work covered in the scope of this standard is as follows:
• Installation of a new C&OIS at a location where one does not currently exist
• Renewal, replacement, or enhancement of an existing C&OIS
• Renewal, replacement, or enhancement of an element of an existing C&OIS.
NOTE: for TOC managed stations, this standard should be used as guidance and is not mandatory.
Purpose
This standard provides the information required to achieve consistency between Customer & Operational Information System (C&OIS) installations undertaken in different locations and by different contractors/supplier
This standard is focused on the hardware (supported by software and firmware) requirements of C&OIS installations, noting that the nature and form of the content that is to be displayed by these C&OIS displays is the subject of a separate Network Rail (NR) standard NR/L2/OCS/060.
