active, Most Current
Organization: TAPPI
Publication Date: 1 January 2017
Status: active
Page Count: 4
scope:

Define the meanings of the retention terms commonly used in the papermaking process: overall, first pass and first-pass ash retention.

The scope of this TIP is limited to the wet-end process and is intended to provide best practices and information around first pass fines/filler retention. For the purpose of clarification, this TIP will not address the material mass balance throughout the papermaking system. Thus, losses in mill storage systems, pipe approach, after the forming section and at the sewer will not be included in this discussion.
