Prepared to serve as a practical guide for positioning lighting devices on truck trailers over 80 inches in overall width in accordance with current regulations of the Department of Transportation. Although the drawings do not attempt to illustrate every type of trailer used in commercial service, a variety of types were chosen having different structural details so that the basic concepts might be applied to any specific design. This Recommended Practice is not intended to imply that it conforms to all state regulations. Each state's regulations if not preempted by Federal Regulations should be complied with in addition to the regulations of the DOT.
