This commercial item description (CID) covers a constant alternating current/direct current (AC/DC) inverter for Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) welding machines. GTAW, often referred to as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, is a welding process using an arc between a tungsten electrode (non-filler, non-consumable) and the weld pool. The process is used with a shielding gas and without the application of pressure. The equipment described herein is for Air Force (AF) Metals Technology (MT) shop installations. AF MT shops serve as the organic and local manufacturing / fabrication resource across the enterprise (150+ locations).
