This document identifies a problem, which can occur when measuring a.c. or d.c. voltage with certain handheld Fluke® meters typically used for the measurement of voltages in railway signalling systems. It identifies which meters are affected and which are not.

It does not address the general personnel and system safety measures necessary for working with signalling equipment.

Purpose

This document has been prepared to provide advice on the use of test and measurement meters on signalling equipment. This issue describes a problem affecting certain models of Fluke® digital multimeters(DMM) and details the specific meters affected. Advisory restrictions on their use are made.
