This Code of Practice should be applied to any resignalling works that are anticipated to have an operational life that extends beyond the potential ETCS implementation date at that location.

The Project Sponsor, in agreement with the Project Client and Professional Head, should determine the extent to which any of the requirements of this document should be applied.

Purpose

This Code of Practice details the requirements for the configuration of signalling systems that should be implemented prior to the future introduction of the ERTMS/ETCS across the Network Rail network. The use of this document will ensure that disruption to the network, costs, risks and rework is minimised when ERTMS/ETCS is implemented.
