Scope.

This performance specification covers the requirements for three types of vapor degreasing solvents. These solvents are suitable for use in degreasing applications for all military ground and aviation equipment wherein the cleaning processes employed is normally vapor phase contact with the metal parts to be cleaned but can also include a combination of submersion in an ultrasonically-agitated sump or boil sump or use of a spray wand or spray nozzles. These solvents are not intended to be used for painted parts or parts with rubber, plastic, or other non-metallic components. Further, as these solvents are at least partially halogenated, they should be considered similar to type 2A solvents as listed in ADS-61A-PRF.
