This specification applies to outstation equipment of an electronic type forming part of a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, associated with an a.c. or d.c. traction power supply network.

The specification does not include requirements for site installation or commissioning works.

The document is to be read in conjunction with Railtrack Line Specification RT/E/S/21000, "Operational, Environmental and General Requirements for Remote Control Equipment for Electrical Distribution Systems" and the relevant procurement specification.

Purpose

This specification states the requirements for remote control outstation equipment also known as remote terminal unit (RTU) equipment, sited within locations associated with an a.c. or d.c. traction network, where plant is to be remotely controlled/monitored from an electrical control room.
