This standard encompasses the design and performance requirements for water motor gongs.

Approval Standards are intended to verify that the product described will meet stated conditions of performance, safety, reliability and quality useful to the ends of property conservation.

Purpose

This standard states FM Approvals criteria for water motor gongs for use in sprinkler system piping. They are used to give an audible alarm signal when a fire protection system operates.

Approval criteria may include, but are not limited to, performance requirements, marking requirements, examination of manufacturing facility(ies), audit of quality assurance procedures, and a surveillance audit program.
