This Standard specifies a standard test method for determining the ability of metallic sheets mainly having a thickness from 0.1 mm up to 2 mm and a width of 90 mm or greater to undergo plastic deformation in stretch forming, using the said metallic sheets as a standard test piece.

The test method may be applied to test pieces thicker or narrower than the standard test piece shown in Table 2.

NOTE The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 20482 : 2013 Metallic materials - Sheet and strip - Erichsen cupping test (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
