Purpose

This Guidance Note provides advice to Network Rail engineers, principal contractors and designers about the process required to design a signalling power supply for railway infrastructure. This principles contained within this guide should be applied to any signalling supply installation.

This guide will not relieve the planning supervisor, contractor or designer of their duties under the CDM regulations.

Although aimed at signalling power supply systems much of the advice applies to any safety critical loads and the principles can be applied to any electricity distribution system.
