This specification covers shunting vehicles used solely for the purpose of hauling and accurately positioning rolling stock requiring tyre turning over underfloor wheel re-profiling machines Underfloor Wheel Lathes are detailed in Company Standard NR/L2/RVE/0133.

This specification does not apply to any shunting vehicle used for any other purposes anywhere within LMD's or on the Network Rail Infrastructure.

Purpose

This specification defines the technical requirements for rail borne shunting vehicles to be utilised for the haulage/positioning of rolling stock over underfloor wheel reprofiling facilities at Light Maintenance Depots (LMD's).
