scope:
This business process applies to:
a) all rail vehicle maintenance Depots and yards including sidings associated with the Depot in which Network Rail Supply Chain Operations (SCO) rail fleet is maintained and stabled;
b) local distribution centres.
It outlines the principles and requirements for the development and updating of Methods of Work (MoW) for those Depots, yards and associated Depot sidings.
Where a MoW has been supplied or compiled by a third party or Train Operating Companies (TOC)/Freight Operating Companies (FOC), that MoW is subject to review by Network Rail, SCO - Regional Depot Responsible Person to verify compliance with this process.
Purpose
This business process sets out the minimum requirements for the Methods of Work (MoW) that apply to all rail vehicle maintenance Depots and yards including sidings associated with the Depot owned by Network Rail and operated by Supply Chain Operations, to confirm safe systems of work are in operation.
The application of the requirements and procedures contained within this business process mitigate the following high-level risks:
a) operational safety risks posed to Network Rail and third-party staff by the movement of rail vehicles;
b) non-compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements.
