Purpose:
This manual is composed of several volumes, each containing its own purpose. In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive (DoDD) 5134.12:
• This manual:
o Implements policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for DoD materiel managers and others who work within or with the DoD supply system consistent with DoD Instruction (DoDI) 4140.01.
o Establishes standard terminology for use in DoD supply chain materiel management.
• This volume establishes:
o Processes and procedures for the Military Departments and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to report their materiel management information to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics (DASD(Logistics)).
o Procedures for DoD Components to develop and report supply chain metrics.
