The requirements of this Specification apply to electromechanical relays and searchlight signal mechanisms, that form part of the infrastructure based railway signalling control system, and which are used in safety-critical or safety related applications.

Guidance on the development of servicing schedules and risk assessment of particular applications is given in Codes of Practice RT/E/C/10048 to RT/E/C/10051, in order to facilitate implementation of this Specification.

PURPOSE

This Specification provides the measures to control the risks presented by failures of signalling relays and searchlight signal mechanisms, so as to satisfy the mandatory requirements of Railway Group Standard GK/RT0210, Asset Management for the Safety of Signalling and Operational Telecommunication Systems and Equipment.
