Introduction
In certain instances some traction bonds which are required for traction return continuity are also essential to the D. of S. & T.E. to provide integrity for track circuits. In other cases certain additional bonds are required to provide this facility but are of a similar type to traction bonds because they may also carry traction current. These types of bonds are identified by yellow markings at their ends.
The identification as to which bonds need to be "yellow" bonds is the sole responsibility of the D. of S. & T.E. but because they are of traction current carrying capacity and therefore of 19/3.25mm P.V.C. covered Aluminium, the responsibility for their marking, installation and maintenance is that of the M.& E.E. department.
Further information on these "yellow" bonds will be found in EHQ/SP/D/101 "Specification for Earthing and Bonding for A.C. Electrified Lines."
