This Railtrack Line Code of Practice applies to relay plugboards installed on Railtrack's infrastructure.

The subject of silver migration is not covered in document. For information on this, reference should be made to GK/RT0107.

This document does not address the general personnel and system safety measures necessary for working on the track with signalling equipment.

Purpose

As a result of an investigation (Technical Investigation Report 96626), into the contamination of blue relay plugboards, this document has been prepared to provide:

• an understanding of the causes and advice on dealing with such contamination

• recommendations of measures that may be taken to eradicate plugboard contamination.
