Purpose:

This issuance updates the mission, organization and management, administration, responsibilities and functions, relationships, and authorities of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), pursuant to the authority vested in the Secretary of Defense by Sections 113 and 191 of Title 10, United States Code (U.S.C.), Executive order (E.O.) 12333, as amended, and E.O.s 13526 and 13556. This issuance does not alter authorities and responsibilities of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) or the heads of the elements of the Intelligence Community (IC) and must be interpreted in accordance with law, policy, and directive, including, but not limited to, those promulgated by, or pertaining to, the DNI, as appropriate.
