scope:

This procedure applies to all Health, Safety or Environment events occuring on, affecting or with the potential to affect Network Rail Controlled Infrastructure. In relation to any other events which may occur off Network Rail Controlled Infrastructure, these are still considered within the scope of this procedure if the activity was in direct relation to the works.

NOTE: Where the term "event" is used, it means occurrences resulting in an accident or incident.

Project teams shall reference and comply with NR/L2/INV/002 and supporting documents to ensure that due process is being followed.

NOTE: It is not the intent of this procedure to mirror the entire content of NR/L2/INV/002, but to outline the basis of how the national process will be applied by Infrastructure Investment and NDS.

This Level 3 Procedure does not include those works covered by existing Network Rail Maintenance processes.

Purpose

In accordance with Network Rail's Business Process Document NR/SP/INV/002 'Management of Accident & Incident Investigations', this procedure outlines the process to be followed for the reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents occurring within works managed under the Infrastructure Investment portfolio.
