Purpose/Material Description.

This specification defines the requirements of standard reference elastomers (SRE) used for automatic transmission fluid (ATF) development and qualification tests, and the minimum performance required when a new fluid is tested for compatibility with the specified SREs, usually referred as elastomer-ATF phase I compatibility tests.
